LAYOUT DESIGN / FRUTIGER
“Frutiger” is a research project inspired by my affinity with Adrian Frutiger and his goals of function-over-form minimalist design.
My interest was first piqued when I saw his student work, a wood engraved evolution of Latin type (Schrift Ecriture Lettering).
As a printmaker specialising in woodblock and rediscovering my love for design as an adjacent field, I similarly found the history of type, typesetting and font design was the perfect crossover between my two loves. I hope to build my own path for meeting the two and in the meantime develop a better eye for layout and type.
One of my first digital book projects, the design of this booklet is one that feels familiar and right despite ultimately being a simple research project and first thorough introduction to indesign.
